Bundesbank VP Lautenschlaeger: European Banks Still Prone To Losses From Debt Crisis

Despite the new measures for direct bank capitalization which were agreed upon at the last EU Summit, European banks are still not immune to incur losses from the debt crisis, said Bundesbank Vice President Sabine Lautenschlaeger in an interview with German Magazine FOCUS.

In the meantime, Mr. Lautenschlaeger sounded more optimistic on the German banks arguing that they managed to reduce risks and raise capital and liquidity during the last few years.

"The German banks are more resilient today than during the last crisis," the report quoted him as saying.
